Vintage Vogue Magazines
One of the first things I did when I moved to California was visit a bookstore that carried old books and vintage magazines. I didn’t have any art for my first apartment so I had the idea to purchase old fashion magazines and have them blown up to poster size then framed. The results were rather striking and today I still have them. If you are struggling with ideas for art in your home take a look at these vintage Vogue magazine covers to get inspired.
The cover I ended up enlarging and framing is the one above with the lady posing as the letter V, it’s one of my favorites.
MARY MCDONALD Interior Designer
Have you seen the latest work of Mary McDonald in the September issue of House Beautiful? I love her work and I’m always inspired by her interiors. It is nice to see her take on a neutral palette with lots of textures for this California home.
The kitchen floor below is amazing, I can’t get enough of the chevron patterned tiles. She strikes such a classic balance within this space. Notice the industrial Restoration Hardware pendants over the island. She also added a accent color in a light blue with some geometric and striped patterns in the kitchen sitting area.
The master bedroom below is such a serene place to be with taupe, lavender and ivory colors to surround you with. There is just enough pattern and texture without making it to busy. The dressing room is a dream with the wallpaper and mirrored bench and gives such glamour to your every morning routine. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the glamour girl herself, Mary McDonald.
